On request from countless fans all around the world, here are finally the lyrics for the three bonus tracks released so far (the Japanese bonus track for "The Perfect Element I" is instrumental). Keep in mind that these lyrics were written by Daniel when he was 16 years old, and "Beyond the Mirror" was also part of a concept called Twilight Voices, and may be a bit difficult to grasp taken from its context. Anyway,
enjoy. Never
Learn to Fly Bonus track on the Japanese version of "Entropia" 1997. When
I was a little child Never
learn to fly With
dirty hands I dug a hole "never
learn to fly" I
sang a song which I remembered my grandma used to sing and
now (kristoffer
gildenlöw) That
was then I’m older now Never
learn to fly When
I was a little child…
COMMENTS: I still love the lyric of this song, especially the twist when it turns out that, in his struggle to resist the death of the little bird, the child causes the death of the tree instead. I can still recognize those everyday difficulties - it is hard to honor life and nature without understanding its conditions. However, we should never stop trying. /Daniel Gildenlow Timeweaver’s
Tale Bonus
track on the Japanese version of "One Hour by the Concrete
Lake" 1998. The
Timeweaver’s abode is deep under ground Hoary
and hollow-eyed, older than sun Timeweaver,
tell me my history that I’ve been searching so He
once was given his mission by three: Hoary
and hollow-eyed, older than sun Timeweaver,
tell me my history that I’ve been searching so Spider's
webs decorate dusty shelves lightened by old candles glow (D.Gildenlöw/Both/D.Gildenlöw/Hallgren) Guarded
by spells he reincarnates time Hoary
and hollow-eyed, older than sun Timeweaver
told me a history I didn’t want to know Timeweaver… Now!
COMMENTS: I wrote this song in Italy, Riva del Sole, when we were on holiday with the family in spring 1990 (I was 16 at the time). It was originally called "Taleweaver's Call" but I changed that after just a few weeks, because it somehow reminded me of "tail waver's call" which made me think in the lines of "Lassie barks for help". Anyway, the original recording from 199...3? is more than 9 minutes long. Two whole passages were left out during the re-recording - by mistake. However, we kept it that way, because it felt quite good with a shortened version for a bonus track. The original version is on the "Ashes" CD-Rom for the Limited Edition of "The Perfect Element I". /Daniel Gildenlow Beyond
the Mirror Bonus
track on the Japanese and South American version of "One Hour by
the Concrete Lake" 1998. Through
a dusty window I watch the clouds draw near I’m
walking through my memories as I’m staring through the glass I
see myself now, in the dusty glass Eternal
alleys that lead to walls hidden behind unlocked doors …beyond
the mirror! I
walk through mazes of cold corridors The
two different heartbeats, becoming one …beyond
the mirror! (Hallgren/D.Gildenlöw/Both/Hallgren/D.Gildenlöw/Both) My world is frozen as I’m
staring through the glass The
glowing fingers of a violent raging sky Amidst
the shadows of whisper land …beyond
the mirror!
COMMENTS:
This
song was initially called "Inside the Circle" and was a very
odd philosophical contemplation that I wrote when I was merely 16. Later
the lyric was changed and the song, otherwise intact, replaced
"Burned by Lightning" (oh, those were the days) in the Twilight
Voices concept. We kept everything as close to the original as
possible when we re-recorded this track in 1998. /Daniel Gildenlow
